After a devastating fire forced him to leave Belgium, Pierre brought his passion and witbier recipe to Austin, Texas, in 1992. Here, he founded Celis Brewery, introducing the rich traditions of Belgian brewing to a new audience and paving the way for the craft beer movement in America.
Pierre Celis wasn’t just a brewer, he was a pioneer. In the 1960s, when the centuries-old tradition of Belgian witbier was on the verge of extinction, Pierre resurrected it from his barn in Hoegaarden. His dedication to authenticity brought a lost flavor back to life, inspiring a global appreciation for craft beer.
Today, Pierre’s influence can be tasted in every glass. His witbier is more than a recipe; it’s a story of resilience, creativity, and the joy of sharing great beer.
